Last month, from April 25 to 27 2024, the
Neuroscience Forum NEURONUS 2024 took place, and our lab manager
Wiktoria Rabińska, had the pleasure of participating. She presented a poster titled "
Cross-modal Congruency Effect as a Measure of Body Ownership in Virtual Reality: Insights from a Full-Body Illusion Study" (available at:
https://osf.io/efb9k/). This work was the result of her collaboration with professor H. Henrik Ehrsson and postdoctoral fellow Dennis Larsson during her summer internship at the Brain, Body, and Self Laboratory at Karolinska Institutet in Sweden.
The day before the conference, workshops were held, including training on the use of technologies utilized in neuroscience. Wiktoria participated in a workshop on the use of VR technology in research, led by Biopac representative Slav Dimov. During the workshop, participants had the opportunity to learn about and test various VR programs and explore the potential applications of this technology in their own research.
The conference itself was filled with excellent oral sessions in the fields of biology, cognition and computation. There were also three poster sessions covering the same areas. Participants had the chance to listen to talks from seven keynote speakers: Andrew Holmes, Gaia Novarino, James V. Haxby, Katharina Wulff, Philippe G. Schyns, Quentin Huys, and Sebastian Haesler. There was also ample time for socializing, with a welcome reception in Italian style on the first day and a venue event on the second day.
The entire event was truly exciting, providing a wealth of new knowledge and connections. It also featured unique elements such as neurofitness on the morning of the second day. We eagerly await the next edition of NEURONUS in two years!
